Without her, Uzakiel would get His due from the necromancer.

He allowed the necromancer to think he needed to fear the dark god.

But if he didn’t bring her back, Uzakiel was the least of his worries.

He screamed, and the very walls of Oskelez shook.

He could not, would not allow this to happen.

She was everything he’d hoped and more.

She was his first chance in so long.

He had waited long, so long, but finally a queen, a mate, would be his.

He would allow nothing to jeopardize that.

Not even his father.

He watched, waited, guarded her.

He’d assigned a powerful retainer to watch over her, but Korvar couldn’t know of her.

She had agreed to take the role even knowing the cost.

Arch-Grimveldt Korvar’s house rose in ranks to one of the most powerful in Oskelez.

So be it. As long as he protected her.

He ended the war.

It took little effort, and even if it had required more, he would have done it.

Oskelez would know an unprecedented decade or two of peace. He would see to it.

Nothing could happen to her.

He allowed the necromancer to keep the child.

He knew Arch-Grimveldt Korvar’s plans for her. He would never allow them to come to fruition.

But keeping her there masked his interest and bought him years to prepare the next step before his father discovered his plans.
