I have been blogging for just over two years now. I have taken classes and read books on what authors should blog about, but much of the advice is contradictory.
Go figure.
So, my question to anyone reading this blog is what would you like to see more or less of?
- Would you like more on writing processes?
- Are you interested in reading about any research I am working on?
- Would you like to see more short stories?
- Would you like more frequent progress updates?
- More book reviews for what I’ve been reading?
- Perhaps you’d like to learn a bit more about characters or see some of their back or side stories?
- Something else?
And no, there will be nothing involving spiders (you know who you are!).
Mostly, this blog is supposed to be a way to connect, and I figure what better way to connect than giving you more of what you want.
I want to read about writing process, research, short stories, and character development.
I use my own blog as a forum to expand, experiment and to basically improve (at least try to anyway, haha!) as a writer. Anything that can aid your development, such as what you mentioned, can only be a good thing.
Who would ever suggest spiders? ๐
On my blog, I’ve found that sharing flash and microfiction works well for me.. often garnering much more interaction than my longer serials and short stories I’ve done. It’s likely a matter of format: WordPress and blogs aren’t the most comfortable places for long reads. Articles on my process / research / personal life don’t do too badly, but can’t be too long in wordcount.
Writing process and research, especially anything you dig up on Araneomorphae.
Not even looking up Araneomorphae. I am almost certain is has to do with spiders.
Everyone’s blog is unique, but I believe a writer’s blog is not so much about the writing as about the writ-ER. I think we should create a brand /of/ ourselves, because our passions inevitably find their way into our writing.
So, short advice: be true to yourself and write about your passions.
Longer advice: be true to yourself and write about your passions because you won’t be able to keep blogging if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing.
We’re writers for life. There’s heaps of time. ๐
Very wise advice!
Yeap, yeap, yeap! Very wise, indeed!
(I’ll try to follow it, too, although, I’m not expecting much success in doing so ๐ )
Like so much your short stories, they are a form to continue know about the characters of your tales (the already published and the coming also). I would love to see more of your research’s road and details about the worlds of you create.
Thanks for the feedback! ๐
