So, I won’t be spring cleaning again this year. I’d love to tell you it’s because my house is so spotlessly clean that it doesn’t need a spring cleaning. But…
Okay, stop laughing.

Top 5 reasons why I won’t be spring cleaning this year.
1. Seducing the Ice Queen won’t revise itself
I have finished writing the next novel in the Knights of Valor series, and I’m now in the process of editing it. If I’m going to have it ready by fall, I need to make time for it. That means less time for cleaning.
2. It’s not like it’ll stay clean
I have two children. Never in my life have I possessed so much plastic or so many toys. I’ve also learned that cleaning a room of said plastic and toys is no guarantee it will be clean five minutes later.
I’ve started enlisting my kindergartner’s help to clean up, and she gets even angrier than I do angry with her younger sister when we finish a room and come back five minutes later only to see her sister surrounded by a fresh pile of toys.

3. I have no helpful woodland creatures.
I’ve watched Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. The raccoons, possums, and squirrels in my backyard are far less accommodating.

4. It’s still cold.
I’d open windows and let in the fresh air, except I’d like the air to be above freezing for that. It’s hard to feel like spring cleaning when winter is still hanging around the state.
5. I don’t really want to clean
I have a very demanding full time job, and when I get home, I’d rather be reading, playing games with the kids, going to the park (if it ever gets above freezing), or enjoying some video games. There are so many things I want to do that aren’t spring cleaning. Sure, we’ll do a few things here and there, but I won’t spend entire weekends cleaning the house. Welcome to the home of two working parents! Please enjoy the mess.
How about you? Will you be spring cleaning this year? Why or why not? If you are, do you have a standard list of things you do? What are they?
I like your reasoning. Makes good sense! 😊
Thanks! 😀
Love it. It has the truth that I was afraid to speak unless I was a few pints to the better. Printed it out and posted it on the wall.
🙂
No spring cleaning here (I barely make time for regular cleaning!) I could *make* time, but I agree with number 5. There are so many things more interesting than cleaning, and if you give me the choice (my house, my choice) I’ll do anything but clean!
Cleaning with kids is hard. They don’t really help, and the mess follows them. Not my first choice to begin with, though I do find a tidy house more calming.
I can’t imagine how hard it would be if it was more than me and the other half living here. (We’re both pretty useless when it comes to getting anything done that isn’t fun!) I do like a tidy house, but I think so long as my office is free from the chaos I can live with it 🙂
I’ll lend you my helpful fairy creatures, because I’m nice like that! The woodland ones shed and make their own messes anyway!
Send them my way!!
Will do!
